____________________________________

Undergraduate Scholarships
Teaching and Learning Resources
Sport, Society & Culture

Who can apply?*
Faculties, Departments, Units or organisations affiliated to Strathclyde.  The Students' Association, clubs and societies.
(*Applications cannot be accepted from or on behalf of individual students)

Guidance for applicants
Funds are disbursed on an annual basis at the discretion of the Alumni Fund Board.  The Board is made up of University staff, alumni and students representatives.  Applicants should be able to demonstrate that an award will have a direct impact on the lives of current Strathclyde students.  When considering applications, the Board look for evidence that:

  • The award will benefit a significant number of students
  • The award will benefit the University
  • The application contains an element of future planning, ensuring the success of the project in question
  • Applicants have investigated, and sought, alternative sources of funding - the Board will favour applicants who can demonstrate personal commitment to their project
  • Applicants, if successful, will be able to promote the Alumni Fund among the student population

To date the Board have shown a preference for funding capital projects and one-off expenses rather than regular running costs.

How to apply
Proposals should be submitted on the standard Alumni Fund Application Form , together with any supporting documentation which may assist the Alumni Fund Board.  Applications from student sports clubs should be sent to the Sports President in the first instance, applications from other student clubs and societies should be sent to the Vice President, Student Development.

What must successful applicants do in return?
Grants awarded from the Alumni Fund must be spent in the manner specified by the Alumni Fund Board and any conditions adhered to.  Successful applicants must provide appropriate reports about the progress of their project and provide such materials as requested to assist in the promotion of the Alumni Fund.  If you would like to discuss making an application or would like more information, please contact the Senior Development Manager, Caroline Notman.

Deadline for 2010 applications: Friday 16th April at 12noon.
