University of Strathclyde Alumni Malaysia (USAM) launched the Outstanding Strathclyde Alumni Malaysia Awards at the group's annual dinner in November 2009. The awards aim to celebrate and honour the achievements of Strathclyde alumni in Malaysia.

Emeritus Professor Dato Wira Ir Dr Mohammad Noor has devoted himself to higher education for more than 37 years, as an academic and professional, to both government and non-government agencies. A true Strathclyder, he obtained his BSc in Civil Engineering, MSc in Hydraulics, Hydrology and Coastal Dynamics and Doctor of Philosophy in Civil Engineering from the University of Strathclyde.

Sonny Tan Siew Hock is the father of three girls and a boy. Married to Shirley for 22 years, Sonny has been in the insurance industry for 32 years, starting as a clerk after completing his Higher School Certificate at Victoria Institution. While struggling to develop his career, Sonny worked hard to qualify as a Chartered Insurer and a Health Insurance Associate, and to top up his academic qualifications with a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde in 2001.

Dato Edmund Santhara is Group CEO of Masterskill University College of Health Sciences and Masterskill College of Nursing and Health, the largest health science education provider in the Asia Pacific Region. Under his leadership, Masterskill has seen rapid growth in the student population from a mere 120 students in 2001 to its current level of 18,000. Dato Edmund gained his MBA from the University of Strathclyde in 1998.
