Accreditation of Autism Training Focused Consultation

The National Centre for Autism Studies and the Scottish Society for Autism have been jointly funded, by the Scottish Executive to develop a system of accreditation for training in Autism. As part of the project we are engaging in a series of focused consultations. We hope to engage with training providers, training purchasers and also parents, family members and persons on the autism spectrum.

Opportunities to participate in focused consultations are shown below. You are invited to join us and share your views.

Local Opportunity for Postgraduate Study In Autism - Moray/Highland

The National Centre for Autism Studies, University of Strathclyde is currently inviting applications for a Moray/Highland based delivery of the Multi-professional Postgraduate Certificate in Autism (ASD). This course of study will commence in November 2007 and will be of benefit and relevance to professionals from a range of disciplines across education, health, social work & voluntary sectors. Additionally parents and carers of individuals with ASD will also find this course of value.

If you would welcome the opportunity to undertake a modular course of study in a multi-professional context and to engage with current theoretical concepts and practice issues we would like to hear from you. Participants will typical hold a degree in a relevant discipline and will have experience of living or working with individuals with ASD.

Please note the course will run only if sufficient numbers of applications are received.

The course costs £680 per module per person

Course Requirements :
The Postgraduate Certificate is validated as part of the Modular Masters programme. In order to gain the certificate participants must complete 4 modules.

Mode of Delivery :
Each module will require 4 days attendance. This will be delivered in 2 x2 day blocks for each module. Each module has an assessment requirement.

Venue :
TBC: but will be within the Highland or Moray area.

Full-time MSc in Autism

From September 2007 we plan to run a pilot delivery of the MSc in Autism on a mix of daytime and evening delivery. This taught course runs for a calendar year, the last three months are spent on the dissertation. Our course flourishes from our involvement of a range of disciplines. We are interested in hearing from you if you are experienced in autism, hold relevant qualification at post-graduate level and currently work in health, education, social work services or the voluntary sector.
