Strathclyde International Business Unit

An international business meeting

main content

Founded in 1983, Strathclyde International Business Unit (SIBU) has a rich and esteemed tradition in international business research, spanning 25 years.

Over the past 25 years, research in SIBU has shaped the direction not only of the academic field of international business, but also policy debate and industry practice.

Directed by Professor Sara McGaughey of the Department of Management, SIBU's aim is to engage creatively and critically with the multidisciplinary challenges that confront individuals and organisations in an increasingly internationalised environment - whether operating at home or abroad.

SIBU creates a forum for dialogue and research collaborations that transcends traditional disciplinary and functional boundaries, bringing together outstanding scholars from across the business school who are working in the international arenas of, for example, Accounting and Finance, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing and Public Policy. This core academic team works closely with a vibrant community of doctoral students, colleagues across the University of Strathclyde, and a growing network of external associates in academe, industry and policy making bodies throughout the UK and worldwide.

As a research-focused cluster, members of SIBU also contribute to the academic management and teaching of the triple-accredited (AMBA, AACSB, EQUIS) Strathclyde Business School across an extensive portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses dedicated to International Business, doctoral programmes, the Strathclyde MBA and other executive education throughout Scotland, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
