Entry requirements

Below is a summary of those qualifications we see most often. If your qualification is not on this list, please contact the SBS adviser.

We are unable to offer deferred entry to our degree courses.

The entry requirements below are for all subjects except those which include Accounting. To view the entry requirements for subjects which include Accounting click here.


Entry from First Sitting:

AAAB or AABBB including English Language Higher B and Standard Grade Mathematics at credit (1) or Int 2 (A).

Entry from Second Sitting if grades not met in First Sitting:

AAABBB including English Language Higher B and Standard Grade Mathematics at credit (1) or Int 2 (A).

Conditional offers on Second Sitting results can be made to applicants who are just short of the First Sitting entry standard. Offers are made at a level to bring candidates’ total qualifications (First and Second Sitting) to at least three grades (typically BC from two higher passes) above the first sitting standard.

Subject Choice:

We welcome a combination of Highers and Advanced Highers. Candidates who would like advice on selecting their second sitting curriculum are invited to contact Admissions for advice between receiving their first sitting exam results and returning to school.

A Levels

ABB, plus GCSE English Language (A) and Mathematics GCSE (A).

Irish Leaving Certificate

AAABBB at Higher level, including Maths and Enlgish at Higher Level.

International Baccalaureate

33 points overall with no subject below 5.


Applicants are considered on an individual basis.

Other Qualifications

Applicants offering professional qualifications or other similar qualifications can be given consideration on an individual basis. Such applicants may be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
