Information Enquiries

Many enquiries can be dealt with by our professionally qualified information team. You can meet them in the careers resource centre or phone 0141-548-4320 during opening hours with queries such as where to study at postgraduate level, how to find out about a company or a professional body or how to begin a search for jobs in Australia. At busy times you may have to wait while they are with another student. You can also email us to have queries like these answered.

CV/Application Form Checking

CV/application checking sessions take place on Tuesday morning and Thursday morning. To book your place on the CV/Application checking service, please read our briefing then register if you are a new user of Strathclyde Online services.

*As you can imagine the CV/Application checking service is extremely popular and to make sure everyone gets a chance we limit this service to one appointment per person.

Job Opportunities

All graduate, part-time, summer work and internship vacancies can be viewed online.  However, if you would like to speak to one of our staff in person please come along to the Careers Resource Centre, Level 6, Livingstone Tower.  One of our Enquiries Team will be available to speak to students with queries about work experience and related issues.

Careers Advice and Guidance

If you want help with more complex matters such as understanding your options, making a good career choice, weighing up the pros and cons of several possibilities or selecting the right employers to target, you may arrange an appointment with a careers adviser. To help make the best type of appointment for you, our reception staff will ask a number of questions, such as 'Can you explain what you wish to discuss with the adviser?' Please be as specific as possible and understand that they are asking these questions to help you. They are not being nosey!

Appointments have to be made in advance. We will give you the earliest suitable appointment possible but please plan ahead. We make every effort to provide an appointment within 3 weeks but this will not always be possible at busy times of the year. If you cannot keep your appointment, please tell us so that someone else can use that appointment time.

It is important that you arrive on time for your appointment.  If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will not be seen by the adviser.

If you are unable to come into the Careers Service, it may be possible to arrange a telephone or Skype appointment, at the discretion of Careers Service staff.

Please note there is a small charge to use the Careers Service if you graduated from Strathclyde more than a year ago or if you are a graduate of another UK university (eligible for one year after graduation).

Practice Interview

You may also arrange an appointment for a practice interview (for either a face-to-face or telephone interview). You will be asked to send in details of the post you are being interviewed for, together with a copy of your application form or CV. We need this at least 3 days before your appointment, so that the adviser can prepare the kinds of questions that you may be asked.

Advice by email

Email Us! if you are unable to find the information or advice you need from our website. Please be realistic about what can be answered by e-mail. It's fine for quite specific questions, but not for advising on which of 45 career options would suit you best if we have not even met you! Please note you can't use Email Us! to make an appointment or have a CV checked.
