Callum Watson - 2002 BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Law - currently works as a Software Developer with JPMorgan in Glasgow.

I have always had a keen interest in computers and software and knew from the outset that my future would lie in IT. Studying 'Computer Science with Law' at Strathclyde gave me the opportunity to build the skills I need to pursue my long term career.

After graduating from Strathclyde in 2002, I did a short spell working for IBM as an IT support analyst. During this time I applied for graduate development programmes in the IT industry and eventually accepted an offer from JPMorgan. I currently develop bespoke software for the investment bank business at JPMorgan. The software I design, develop and support is used to price a variety of financial instruments such as options, futures, swaps and other derivatives.

The work I do is extremely challenging but at the same time very rewarding. I get to use a variety of technologies, many of which I was first introduced to at Strathclyde. I also liase with business specialists who I constantly work with to learn about the finance sector and the new products my software will support.

Career development is also extremely important at JPMorgan. I am constantly driven to 'up my game' to keep up with the top performers in the business. As an aside to my 'business as usual' role developing software, I am also involved in many other initiatives at work. I am a member of the JPMorgan 'Strathclyde University Recruitment Team' who regularly host events, attend careers fairs and present at the University to encourage new talent to come and work for the bank. I also attend a computer club for girls at local Glasgow high school to teach them the power of IT at work and home.

I also have many interests away from work. I play as much golf as possible and develop the website for my local club when I can. I also enjoy football, running, swimming and am known to kayak on the River Clyde when the weather holds up.
