ERS is a specialist soil and groundwater remediation contractor operating throughout the UK. With its headquarters based in Glasgow, ERS has strong links with the Civil Engineering department at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Collaborative research between the two organisations ranges from 'bioremediation of organometal contaminants in water and sediments' to 'geo-electrical surveying of contaminated land'.
ERS is a keen supporter of the current MRes courses being run at the University. The courses on offer provide an excellent framework to prepare students for work in a number of environmental industries. Taught modules on waste management, site investigation and risk assessment, environmental biotechnology, and water and wastewater treatment are all highly relevant to the contaminated land industry. The major research project component enables students to gain more in depth knowledge and experience in industrially relevant and topical research fields.
ERS has helped by offering employment to several MRes students from the University. For example, a past MRes student was employed for a specific project after the company attended a conference at which the student was presenting. Another student of the University currently works part time within ERS.
