OUR ORGANISATION

The Refugees Into Teaching in Scotland Project (RITeS) is based at the University of Strathclyde, Jordanhill Campus in the Faculty of Education, Department of Primary & Childhood Studies. There is a full-time co-ordinator and a part-time administrator and you can find their details and how to contact them in the contacts section.

We have many partners in the project who are keen to assist and support refugee teachers. You can find information about our partners on this website.

We have a Management and Advisory Group which is made up of representatives from the refugee and asylum seeking communities and representatives from all of our partner institutions.

You can make an appointment to see the co-ordinator by telephoning or by email or by writing to the address given. Appointments are usually given on Monday, Tuesday morning and Friday.  All contact details can be found on this website.

RITeS Research Project

The RITeS Research Project developed from the main RITeS Project and was separately funded by the West Forum.  The research was managed by a multi-partner group of researchers from Higher Education and Further Education Institutions, Local Authorities and professional bodies.  The research was aimed at engaging with a sample of refugee teachers to explore key differences in educational systems, curricula, methodologies and pedagogies between countries of origin and Scotland.

The research has now been completed and the report is available to download here :RITeS Research Report

Teachers in Scotland - Mentoring

We hope that this website will be of interest to those in the teaching profession in Scotland and elsewhere who feel that they can offer support, advice and help for refugee teachers. We would very much like to hear from teachers who would be willing to be mentors for refugee teachers. If you feel you could help with this in any way, please do not hesitate to get in contact with us. You'll find all contact details in this website.
