PgCert Taught Course

This named pathway aims to bring together primary teachers and secondary teachers (e.g. Home Economics and Technical Education specialists and interested colleagues from related discipline such as art and design) local authority advisors/education development officers, enterprise coordinators, etc. It has been devised specifically to meet demand of those who wish to pursue a programme of continuing professional development which is tailored to meet their specific needs and which develops:

  • Greater critical understanding of education for a technological capability, current pedagogical developments, principles and underpinning theories;
  • Increased awareness and knowledge of research work in the realm of design and technology, including studies of the international contexts and related areas and issues;
  • Skills of enquiry which enable them to explore, investigate and reflect critically on aspects of their own design and technology education related work with a view to consolidating knowledge and influencing action of self and others.

It comprises four modules:

Each 15 Scottish Masters Credit modules require 150 hours student effort at SQF level 11. The modules within this course may also be taken as 'stand
alone' credits or as an elective on another route within the Modular Masters Scheme.

We intend to run Module 1 in seven twilight sessions from 4.30-7.30 p.m.
