Shiva Lingam

Shiva is most frequently worshipped in the form of a lingam often set within a yoni, symbols of regeneration and fertility. Combined in this way they symbolise the creative forces of nature. Each has the potential to create, but is dependent on the other to bring creation to fruition. As part of the ritual of worship or puja, offerings of milk or of Ganges water may be poured over the combined lingam/yoni.
