Challah Cover

The special plaited loaves on the Sabbath table recall the double portion of manna received by the Hebrews each Friday morning on their journey through the wilderness after their deliverance from Egypt. The loaves are covered by a decorated cloth. The cloth is a reminder of the dew which, according to tradition, acted as a protective cover for the manna.
