Kiddush Cup
Kiddush is the Hebrew term for sanctification or making holy. The Kiddush is the prayer recited over a cup of wine in the home or synagogue to sanctify the Sabbath or festivals. The prayer consists of a passage from the book of Genesis, a blessing over wine and a blessing for the day.
In some synagogues a Kiddush is recited after the Saturday morning service as part of a social get together.
