Struggling with your mental health?

main content

Here are some key University services which will help you if you are experiencing emotional difficulties, like stress, anxiety, or low or fluctuating mood. Or they can direct you to someone else who will be able to help you. It's a good idea for students in distress to seek help at an early point in their difficulties. It's also helpful for students who have problems over longer periods to manage their work-life balance in ways which support their wellbeing.

Disability Service Level 4, Graham Hills

Contact an Adviser: disabilityservice@strath.ac.uk ; 0141 548 3402

People who are mentally unwell often don't think of themselves as 'disabled'. But the support from Disability Service Advisers is every bit as much for students who have on-going mental health difficulties as it is for students who have a physical disability.

The focus of the Service is on looking for ways of supporting disabled students through their study. This might be

" adjustment to the pace of study

" help in negotiating, e.g. rescheduling of assignment deadlines

" where necessary, Advisers can act as advocates for disabled students in interactions with other people

" changes to the exam arrangements, such as sitting the exam somewhere other than the main exam hall.

The Disabled Student Allowance and other funds are available to all students who are mentally or physically unwell if they need additional support or equipment to progress with study.
