CPD Courses

The Department of Civil Engineering and DLCS have developed a range of short courses to meet the professional development needs of engineers and environmental professionals. These can be taken over 12 weeks for 2-3 hours per week or as intensive 2-3 day programmes, tailored to the needs of your organisation.

Short Courses in Noise Measurement

Accredited by the Institute of Acoustics, we run 4-day courses in noise measurement for noise consultants and environmental health officers.

Open Access Modules

Take single modules from any of our Masters programmes to fit in with working life. These may be taken individually for specific interests, or they may build towards a postgraduate certificate, diploma or masters degree.

Geotechnics CPD Programme

We have just launched a CPD programme for engineering professionals in Geotechnics, to meet the skills gap identified by engineering employers.

Contaminated Land Modules

We offer a number of modules to support professionals working in contaminated land, including Remediation Technologies , Site Investigation and Risk Assessment, Environmental Forensics and Hydrogeology.

Environmental Health Modules

Study for a Masters, over five years, by taking two or three modules a year from our Open Access courses. Individual modules are available from our MSc Environmental Health programme.

International Training Courses

We also offer 1-2 week training for policy makers and specialists in global environmental policy.  In September 2009 we ran a highly successful course in the Implementation of the Stockholm Convention in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation  (UNIDO). Further courses are planned and will be advertised here in the coming months.
