Career Profile
The career choice for graduates is wide and varied - design engineer, concept engineer, airline pilot, process engineer, consultant, CAD engineer, teacher. Companies such as Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Diageo, GE Caledonian, Jaguar, Accenture and Rolls-Royce target the Department each year to recruit our graduates. Some graduates choose to embark on a Graduate Trainee programme with these companies as a means of gaining experience in several departments within the organisation.
The course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology. This is important for students who wish to gain Chartered Engineer status.

Graduates of DMEM are very much in demand because of their broad engineering skills and their understanding of management principles This makes students very attractive to industry to the extent that, in recent years, a very high percentage of stuudents seeking employment have secured job offers before graduating. The demand for graduates of our courses is such that a number of companies (such as Accenture, Procter & Gamble, IBM, Nestle, Agilent and Unilever, to name a few), specifically target the course year after year in their recruitment drives. Some graduates choose to embark on a Graduate Trainee programme with these companies, giving them the opertunity to otain experience in several departments within the organization.
