Biographical Information

Education and Previous Experience:

Prior to postgraduate studies he has been employed for shorter or longer periods in various corners of his native Icelandic economy, interned in an investment bank and a manufacturer of fish processing machinery, dealt with the finances of a film company and worked as a secretary in a music school. School holidays were spent working in the fishing industry and forestry. Furthermore he served as an elected council member in Ísafjarðarbær from 1996-1998.

Research Interests:
Multisectoral modelling, urban & regional economies, regional adjustment & development, peripheral economies, overall impact of public policy, economic development

PhD Subject:
Computable general equilibrium modelling of the overall regional impact of higher education institutions on the Southwest of Scotland (with funding from the ESRC and funding council backed Overall Impact of higher education institutions on regional economies initiative).
