Recently, Dr. Joseph Jackson joined CUE. Dr. Jackson is a physicist with research interests in bioacoustics, biophysical modelling and molecular motors relating to mechanosensation and audition. He received his MSci in Physics at Imperial College in 2003, and then completed his PhD at the School of Biological Sciences, University of Bristol, in 2008. His PhD work involved theoretical and experimental investigations into the nonlinear nanoscale mechanics of insect acoustic sensors. He then worked at the Institut Curie, Paris, investigating the mechanics of ensembles of molecular motors. In April 2009, he joined CUE as a post-doctoral Research Fellow to undertake research into biological ultrasound as part of the BIAS project.
