Research
The 2008 RAE reinforced the department's international stature. 20% of our outputs gained the top grade of 4* ('world leading'). A further 31% were rated 3* ('international excellent'). Our grant income per member of staff is one of the highest among UK English departments. We are committed to knowledge exchange and the department's researchers participate in the public sphere. The high reputation of the department's researchers is reflected in our publications and our many collaborations with other universities.
