The Department of Educational and Professional Studies has over 90 staff and a number of visiting professors and lecturers. Staff contribute substantially to most of the vocationally-oriented courses provided by the Faculty of Education.

The Department offers a number of postgraduate and undergraduate courses and is host to several areas of expertise including :

EPS Centres and Divisions

Research activities closely match the Department's major teaching responsibilities and draw on staff expertise in a range of disciplines.  The principal areas in which research is carried out are Community Education, Counselling, Educational Studies (including Pedagogy and Policy Studies), Educational Support, Quality in Education and Speech & Language Therapy.  We have a strong commitment to postgraduate studies and currently have over 100 postgraduate students completing EdD, MPhil and PhD degrees.

News

Congratulations to Prof. Kirsten Stalker who has received an award under the ESRC Research Seminars Competition for 'Researching the Lives of Disabled Children with a focus on their persepectives'.  There will be 5 seminars across the UK starting January 2010.

Congratulations to Prof. Kate Mackenzie who will be awarded the Fellowship of RCSLT for services to Speech and Language Therapy at a ceremony on 7th October 2009.
