PgD/MSc/Practitioner Doctorate in Counselling Psychology
(Accredited by the British Psychological Society)
This programme is the only one of its kind in Scotland and is the first counselling psychology programme to be orientated around a person-centred/experiential core model.
Counselling psychology is a rapidly growing area of applied psychology. In fact, the Division of Counselling Psychology within the British Psychological Society is now the second largest division of the Society, even though it was only formally established in 1994.
Chartered counselling psychologists work therapeutically with clients with a variety of problems such as the effects of childhood sexual abuse, relationship breakdown, domestic violence, major trauma and/or symptoms of psychological disorder (including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and psychosis).
They offer an active collaborative relationship which can both facilitate the exploration of underlying issues and can empower people to confront change.
