Dr John DeHaan (Fire-Ex Forensics Inc)
As a career "bench" criminalist with a Bachelor's degree, I had not seriously considered pursuing a postgraduate degree until I was approached by the (then) Forensic Science Unit with an offer of study as an external graduate student. This gave me the unique opportunity to continue my full-time employment and obtain a degree from one of the pre-eminent university programs in forensic science. The degree has opened many professional doors and I have recommended the endeavour to several colleagues.

By studying at Strathclyde I fulfilled a personal ambition to live in, and travel round, Scotland as well as following my fascination with forensic science. I particularly benefited from the common tuition in general forensic issues then specialised in forensic biology. My research was into DNA profiling using capillaries. I loved both the course and the city.

Professor Pierre Margot
After completing a forensic science degree in Switzerland, I came across the Forensic Science Unit at Strathclyde. It was pioneering a Master's programme in forensic science that was at the forefront of academic developments in the discipline. I joined the programme and was then persuaded by it's founder (Prof F. Fish) to pursue research within the Unit. This launched my international career and I am pleased to see the unit develop a programme with deep and strong roots for the benefit of the discipline.

Dr Ben Mallinder
I really enjoyed my time at Strathclyde. The MSc course gave me a great insight into forensic science and gave me a taster of giving evidence in court and going to scenes. I gained invaluable experience from both the course and placement, which helped me become a Forensic Biologist.

Dr Gillian E Keating
I graduated from the first year of the Forensic and Analytical Chemistry Honours degree course in 1992. Since 1996, I have been a Forensic Scientist in the Documents & Handwriting Section of Strathclyde Police Forensic Support Department. The knowledge I gained during my degree not only helped me secure my employment but has been well used over the last nine years. I would recommend this to anyone with similar aspirations.
