The date has been set and the countdown to Gala 2011 has now officially begun! Tuesday the 1st of November promises to be a night to remember and we warmly invite you to join us. Gala has gone from strength to strength since it started in 2000. We are excited to be able to celebrate the success of this prestigous event and hope you will share our enthusiasm.
Our Aim
"To provide a unique networking opportunity within Scotland for students, business representatives and academics of engineering disciplines."
What is Gala?
Gala is essentially an opportunity for students and representatives from the engineering industry to communicate in a relatively informal atmosphere. It is a rare networking event. The Gala is in the form of an evening dinner. Engineering employers sponsor a table of ten people, at which three of their company representatives will sit. During the meal and in the networking time afterwards companies have the opportunity to explain the opportunities available with their company. Students have the opportunity to speak to prospective employers and find out what it is really like to work for them, and how they might fit in to the company.
This year's Gala takes place on Tuesday the 1st of November in the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow City Centre. Gala 2011 will involve Strathclyde's engineering students, senior engineering faculty staff, alumni, and key industrial contacts in engineering and associated professions who are looking to recruit students from one of the best engineering universities in Scotland.
Gala Objectives
- To provide an opportunity for companies to network with Strathclyde engineering students who will be the engineering professionals of the future;
- To set up a network within the engineering and associated professions;
- To make an important contribution towards raising the profile of the Engineering Faculty and the engineering profession;
- To strengthen links between the engineering industry and the many Strathclyde students and academics who are involved in cutting edge research.
