Post-graduate research students form part of a vibrant community within the School of Law and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (HaSS) at Strathclyde. Law research students run their own reading group, supported by the School, giving the opportunity to discuss, in a welcoming environment ideas and concepts across the research areas which they cover. Students are encouraged, in consultation with their supervisors, to attend conferences in their areas and funding towards expenses is available through the HaSS Graduate School. In 2011/12, the Law School also has its own fund – the Hugh George King Fund – which offers funding specifically for students who are presenting papers at conferences. Every effort is also made to provide students with relevant teaching experience during their studies.
