Biographical Summary

Beth Weaver is a Lecturer at the Glasgow School of Social Work, University of Strathclyde. Prior to entering academia, she worked in the areas of youth and criminal justice social work in Scotland and latterly as a MAPPA Coordinator. 

Teaching Interests

Criminology, Law and penal policy for social work practice; penology, criminal justice and penal change; risk assessment and management in criminal justice; public protection and MAPPA; rehabilitation and desistance.

Research Interests

Principal areas of research interest are in desistance,resettlement and reintegration and the implications for criminal and community justice policy and practice with a particular focus on service user involvement and engagement.

Memberships and Affiliations

Beth is a member of the European Society of criminologists; Centre for Law crime and justice, Strathclyde university; affiliate member Scottish centre for crime and justice research;  member of credos - collaboration of researchers for the effective development of offender supervision. Member of  Sentencing & Penal Decision-Making Working Group of the European Society of Criminology; member of the European society of criminology; member of the European Society of Criminology’s community sanctions network.
