Courses within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences are designed to have a contemporary focus, producing graduates with the transferable skills to make an impact in the world. This is a forward-thinking Faculty whose students are a vital part of the changing face of humanities and social sciences.
Graduates have the ability to tackle global issues from studying any of the diverse areas offered within the Faculty eg in law, mediation, counselling, psychology, teacher education, sustainable development, medical history to name a few. Interdisciplinarity is at the heart of the University’s core values and through our Faculty we aim to give you the opportunity to undertake subjects in other disciplines both within and outwith the Faculty.
From August 2012, we will be located in a new HaSS Quarter in the centre of Glasgow just a few minutes from the railway stations, bus stops, shops, and restaurants. This location is ideal as it will provide a social hub and access to student services such as the library, cafés, meeting areas and exhibition spaces. Student residences are directly across the road.
To become a student of this new vibrant Faculty, you will need to show aptitude in a range of areas depending on which course(s) you choose. We expect you to be a pro-active multi-tasker who is open to taking part in various forms of teaching, learning and assessment methods. You will be taught by leading researchers in their field ie the academics who write the text books.
You can pursue the opportunity to study abroad as part of a particular course or on an exchange agreement at a highly rated international institution with whom the Faculty has links.
