What made you choose to study at Strathclyde?
The flexibility of the BA course. I knew I wanted to study languages at University but wasn’t sure what to combine them with so the possibility of studying several subjects before committing to a particular degree was especially appealing.
I had also heard great things about the language departments and the Language Centre in particular. I’m pleased to say all was confirmed upon arrival!
Have you had any particular highlights in your course at Strathclyde – excursions, placements, years abroad, awards, scholarships etc?
In the academic year 2008/09 I worked as an English Language Assistant in two high schools in Dijon, France. I also studied at the Université de Bourgogne thanks to the Stevenson Scholarship.
This was without doubt the highlight of my course as I got to not only improve my French but also take a break from my studies and earn some money. I enjoyed my time there so much that I decided to stay in France for a second year. I returned to University more motivated, more confident and with (hopefully) a better level of French!
What would you say to anyone thinking of coming to Strathclyde?
I would say go for it! Strathclyde is a great university with a flexible approach to learning. The staff are always very helpful and friendly as well. And since it’s not all about studying, I have to say that the social scene (The Union in particular) is great too!
Do you have a job/work experience/internship lined up?
I plan to return to France upon graduating this summer so I am currently looking at options for work/study.
