The University of Strathclyde has been recruiting Norwegian students for many years and we have a number of Norwegian students studying with us at any one time. Popular areas include Business (international business, finance and entrepreneurship), Engineering (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Sustainability, Renewable Energy), Science (Forensic Science) and Art & Social Sciences (International Journalism, Psychology, English and History).
We have a strong alumni network across the world of Norwegian Strathclyde graduates. We visit Norway regularly to attend education fairs, to counsel students through our agent network and to visit partner institutions such as the University of Oslo, Bergen University College, Buskerud University College, NTNU and Vestfold amongst many others. What qualifications do I need?
The following information should be used as a guide only. Admission is always at the discretion of the relevant department.
Undergraduate Study
For undergraduate study we require the Upper secondary Leaving Certificate (Vitnemal - vinderegaende opplaering), final examinations of grade 4 or above. English at grade 4 or above may substitute the need to take an additional English language test such as IELTS - please check with the International Office. Apply now for undergraduate study.
Study Abroad at Strathclyde
Undergraduate students already studying in Norway can also apply to Strathclyde as an independent visiting student and study for a semester or a full academic year. This is a great way to experience Scotland and live in the vibrant and exciting city of Glasgow. Apply now.
Postgraduate Study
To be considered for admission to a taught Master's course applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree with an overall average of C or better. For admission to research applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree with an overall average of B or better and should also be in possession of a Master's degree ans some experience of research. Please contact us for advice on your area of interest.
Scheduled activity in Norway
Our next visit to Norway will be in January 2010 and this will include attendance at the Udtanning Fairs (www.fairs.no) with support from our agent Bjorknes. The fairs around Norway are detailed in the table below. Partial scholarships for all undergraduate students from Norway
The University of Strathclyde offers a partial fee waiver to all Norwegian students registered for an undergraduate degree (BA, BSc, MSci, MEng, LLB) starting in September 2010, irrespective of entry level. The fee reduction is worth £2,000 (approx 20,500 NOK) per year of study. To qualify, please send an email with your full name, registration number and course name by email before 31 August 2010.
Norwegian Loan and Grant System
For information on student loans and grants from the Norwegian funding system, please contact Lanekassen http://www.lanekassen.no Please note that most Strathclyde degree courses are approved for these loans. If you require a scholarship letter for Lanekassen, please email with the following details: name, date of birth, registration number and programme of study.
