Temporary PC & software provision
New computer labs are being set up with the specialist engineering software that was previously available in the centrally-managed James Weir IT labs. This software is also being installed in other lcoations around the campus.
The software has already been installed on 100 computers in the Eaton Room on level three of the library, and in the two library teaching rooms. These are available during normal library opening hours.
A further 58 PCs have been installed in the Lord Todd restaurant and are now available for use.
40 new PCs have been installed in rooms 801b and 801c in the Colville Building. These are available for class bookings and for drop-in use.
Software is also available in the Livingstone Tower Labs (3.01a, 3.01b, 4.11, 9.01) . For students who had "red card" access to Weir, enabling them to get overnight and weekend access, these cards are valid for the Livingstone tower.
We have installed 12 public PCs in the open area in the Graham Hills level 5 teaching cluster. These computers are loaded with all of the engineering software that was previously available in the James Weir building, and are in addition to the 56 computers that have been installed in the Lord Todd and the new cluster in the Andersonian library.
If you have any questions about accessing software previously available in the James Weir IT labs, please email the IT helpdesk on helpdesk@strath.ac.uk or phone ext 4000 option 1, between 9am and 8.50pm, Monday to Friday.
