Jordanhill IT Services helpdesk has a number of services on offer specifically for the Faculty of Education staff and students.

Services available from the Jordanhill IT helpdesk:

Video Conference

The video conference suite, located on the ground flloor of David Stow building, can be booked through our IT helpdesk. Simply fill in a form and send the email to jh.helpdesk@strath.ac.uk who will arrange your booking and inform you via email once setup.

Apple Mac Expertise

The Jordanhill Campus is unique having a large number of Apple Mac users who need to use the software found in schools or specialist applications for music and photography.

To support these systems the I.T. Services helpdesk have two certified Apple Mac specialists able to resolve any issues from staff and students.

Hardware Purchase

Academic staff can purchase a range of standardised hardware from the Jordanhill IT Helpdesk. The hardware has been carefully selected for its proven reliability whilst offering impressive functionality at an attractive price.

The systems chosen are DELL and Apple Mac for a range of desktop and laptops. Hewlett Packard provide a range of printers for all needs.

Faculty Labs

The Faculty of Education have a number of local computer labs used for teaching located on the 2nd floor of the David Stow building. These labs have software applications installed with the main focus on teacher education and training. More details of the facilities and software available can be found on this page.

A new self service room booking system is in operation for these specialist rooms and is available to all academics. Should you require the use of these facilities please login with your DS account on the following page.

In addition on the right side of this page a feed will provide daily updates of lab checks carried out by IT Services staff during 08:30 and 09:00 each morning.

Database Applications

Consumables

The helpdesk provides many consumables to staff and students. Available from stock or next day delivery a wide range of printer cartridges and toner, CD's/DVD's, Usb pen drives..

Loanpool Laptops

The IT Helpdesk provides a laptop loanpool service to academic staff for up to one week (recurring if available).

There are a number of models available including:

  • Several DELL laptops with Windows XP & Office 2003.
  • Several DELL laptops with Windows 7 and Office 2007.
  • Several Macbooks with OSX and Office 2008.
  • A rugged small DELL netbook with Windows 7 and Office 2007 ideal for travel.
