Hospitality & Tourism Management

The hospitality & tourism industry is one of the largest and fastest-growing sectors of the Scottish economy and throughout the world.

Have you ever wondered how major international companies such as British Airways, Thomas Cook, Sheraton or Marriott manage their businesses, with buildings, equipment and employees spread over all corners of the world?

Studying Hospitality & Tourism at Strathclyde, will ensure that you have the necessary management skills to manage operations as diverse as hotels, restaurants, exhibition centres, cruise ships, outdoor centres, schools and hospitals, or the military. We have graduates operating in all these fields, thanks to our 65 years' experience in hospitality higher education. Provided with the theoretical background and a wealth of opportunities to investigate the reality of the sector, we firmly believe in Strathclyde's stated aim to be 'the place of useful learning' - 8,500 graduates can't be wrong!

Our goal is to provide you with a thorough understanding of the academic disciplines surrounding the international hospitality and tourism industry. Strathclyde's approach is business management-oriented recognising the multidisciplinary nature of the sector of the economy we operate in.

As a Principal Subject within the highly regarded Strathclyde Business School you will have the flexibility to study Hospitality & Tourism together with other subjects.

Industrial Experience

As ours is a very practical and customer focused industry, we would strongly encourage students to gain industry experience, either before they start the course, or by working during the summer break. With a truly global alumni network we can assist students in gaining experience, strengthening their CV, and developing their own Professional Development Plan.

Entry Requirements

The following is a summary

Highers at AABB or ABBBC, including English and Standard Grade Maths at Credit or equivalent.

A levels at BBC, plus GSCE English and Maths both at B.
