Strathclyde Business School students have access to a wide variety of dedicated computing resources within their campus building.
Within SBS' Cathedral Street building, students have free access to the Web from their laptops via both fixed wire and wireless network access points. All our lecture theatres have fixed network points and wireless hotspots so students can remain connected throughout. Our lecture theatres are also equipped with a computer, DVD & VCR, audio and projection capability.
The Management department's computer lab is available to our students, for a mix of teaching, group and personal work. In addition to this, Management students also have access to laser and colour printing facilities.
Students have access to a wide range of Windows based applications installed within the computer lab. Although we can not provide students with copies of any commercial Microsoft applications, students are able to take advantage of preferential educational pricing on software and also have free access to "Site Licensed" packages such as virus checkers, decision making & statistical software.
All full time students are automatically provided with a Strathclyde Internet e-mail account which can be accessed via the Web. All e-mail is based on the latest Microsoft Exchange e-mail technology and can be accessed throughout the world.
Department of Management courses do not have a formal computer hardware requirement, although many students feel it is of great benefit to own their own equipment throughout their year here. We do recommend that laptops run Windows (XP, Vista, 7) and have either a wired or wireless network connection. Although Apple Mac laptops can connect to the network here, much of the course software used will only run on Windows, so these machines can be more limiting.
Any students who do not have a laptop, or access to a home computer, can still access the Department of Management computer lab throughout normal building opening hours. The recently upgraded lab consits of 20 Dell PCs, equipped with Windows Vista & Office 2007, colour and laser printers, Internet access and all the software you will use throughout your course.
