Researcher

Andy graduated with a BA. (Hons) in English Literature from Stirling University in 1984 and an MBA in 1993. He has spent most of his career as a management consultant, initially with major companies such as Ernst & Young but is now a partner in two Scottish Organisational Development consultancies specialising in leadership and organisational development. He has worked with a wide range of organisations, primarily in electronics, software and creative industries. He is a guest lecturer on the MBA at Glasgow University.

His main interests are motivation, leadership, the knowledge economy and psychological contracts. Andy's area of doctoral research is the expectations in the psychological contract of individuals in a knowledge-based organisation initiate a transformational leadership style. The research will seek to establish a causal relationship between the significant change in the content of the psychological contract of knowledge workers and a corresponding shift from a transactional leadership style towards a transformational leadership style amongst managers in knowledge-based organisations.
