Management Undergraduate Programme at SBS
The Department of Management within the University of Strathclyde Business School runs a range of major international programmes, including the Strathclyde MBA. Consequently, we have a reputation for high quality, managerially relevant research in the areas of strategy, general management and international business.
We are committed to providing excellent educational experiences for all our students, and more recently have extended our portfolio to include undergraduate study in Management.
We are confident that graduates in this new principal subject will find themselves in high demand, in the market-place. The focus throughout the course will be on translating the latest managerial thinking into practical and usable outcomes. It will help you to understand the theory underpinning this subject area and develop the skills required to translate the theory into practice.
Our academic staff advise senior managers in the public and private sectors, both here and overseas. They will bring those experiences into the classroom and, using a range of teaching methods, provide an excellent grounding for those aspiring to a career in management.
Our teaching methods mirror our focus on managerial relevance and our close relationship to practice. All of our courses are taught by a mixture of formal lectures and tutorial sessions to consolidate and deepen your understanding of key concepts. A number of our courses also adopt problem-centred approaches where real organisations with real problems are used to illustrate how the theory translates to practice. We also use web-based learning environments and there is a range of support materials available on-line.
Our teaching team have established international reputations in the areas of strategy, general management and international business. They are in high demand for their advice on everything from the reorganisation of the health service to the corporate strategy of major blue chip firms. People working at the leading edge of their subject areas will shape the design of the course, its delivery and the assessment methods used, thereby ensuring that the teaching programme is relevant and up-to-date.
