Farhad Shafti has a BSc and MSc in Industrial Engineering from (respectively) University of Science & Technology and University of Tarbiat Modarres in Iran and a PhD in Management Science from Strathclyde. Before joining Strathclyde he was working in the National Iranian Productivity Organisation, providing training and consultancy projects for the Iranian public and private sector industry.
Farhads work is focused on Service Operations Management and (conceptual) Modelling of Service Systems. His particular research interests within these areas are Typology of Services, Performance Measurement and Effects of Cultural Factors on Service Organisations. Some of Farhad's current research projects include leading a research enhancement project on the subject of Service Science, co-investigator of an EPSRC multi-disciplinary research project on managing the manage-processes and working with the Scottish Highland and Islands Centre for Business Process Outsourcing for research and consultancy in contact centres.
Farhad was involved in the formation of the Strathclyde Institute for Operations Management (SIOM) and is in SIOM academic team. He has presented his research as a panel member or invited speaker in a number of seminars and conferences in the Middle East. Farhad is a member of the European Operations Management Association and a member of the OR Society.
