Established in 1971, the Department of Marketing has long been recognised as one of the earliest seats of excellence and leadership in marketing learning and research.
The Department is home to a large and thriving community of marketing academics, committed to a multidisciplinary approach to researching the creation of value through exchanges and relationships with consumers, organisations and the society. Our critical mass of internationally excellent researchers have expertise in three main sub-fields of marketing, namely consumer and social marketing, marketing management (including product and brand management, digital marketing, services marketing), and business markets and networks (including supply chain management). We also have significant strengths in small business marketing and internationalisation and international marketing. Our researchers commonly aim to produce work that is academically rigorous and useful to our key target stakeholders – students, practitioners, policy makers and funding bodies.
We aim to be recognized nationally and internationally as one of the leading academic Marketing Departments, focused on the relationship between theory and practice, and which offers a supportive and nurturing environment for scholars seeking to pursue a first class career. Our vision is to foster a community of shared excellence that delivers top quality marketing education, research and applied knowledge.
The Department of Marketing is part of the tripled accredited (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS) Strathclyde Business School, which was ranked the top Business School in Scotland and among the top 10 in the UK in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).
