NA-ME success in RAE

Results for the UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), measuring research performance from 2000-2007, showed the success of research activity in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in recent years.  NA-ME was the only marine-related department to submit independently - other UK Naval Architecture departments submitted jointly with departments in related disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering - and NA-ME was the top-rated department in its Unit of Assessment (UoA 28) in Scotland.  Fifty-five percent of NA-ME research activity was judged to be either "world-leading" or "internationally excellent".

Results showed that NA-ME was in the top three departments in the University of Strathclyde Faculty of Engineering, and in the top two in the University of Glasgow Faculty of Engineering.
