The Department recently purchased a new yacht, a Sigma 33, "Catalina", replacing the former yacht of the department "Renegade". The yacht, which is 33 feet in length, is available for use by both students and staff within the department for cruising and racing.
The yacht is berthed at Rhu Marina, Helensburgh which provides access to some great cruising spots and scenery.
NA-ME Students are given the opportunity to gain their RYA Day Skipper qualification through a theoretical course offered by the Department, which contributes to their degree, together with a practical course on the yacht.
