From ship design, to oil and gas and marine renewables, Naval Architects and Marine Engineers are in demand!
The marine and offshore industries have undergone rapid changes in recent years, making this an exciting time to study Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Naval Architects are playing a leading role in improving ship safety and in engineering innovative solutions for reducing the environmental impact of shipping. Continuous design development in the offshore industries allows oil to be extracted in deeper waters and rougher seas, whilst the promise of renewable energy from the ocean in the form of wind, wave and tidal power is finally being fulfilled. Advances in marine engineering are enabling ships to travel faster and more economically than ever before.
Our BEng and MEng courses are accredited by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) on behalf of the Engineering Council.
Naval architects and marine engineers are recognised as some of the highest-paid specialist engineers, with a wide variety of positions and roles. There are many opportunities for careers working in the field and for world travel.
Industrial links are of vital importance to us for the success of our future graduates. We continually strive to strengthen and expand our links with industry to ensure that our graduates are equipped with the appropriate knowledge and skills that prospective employers actively seek.
