Small craft have developed dramatically in recent years in terms of number, variety and technical specification. High-speed ships are evolving rapidly: sizes and speeds of ferries undreamed of a decade ago are now commonplace.
Safer, stronger, faster and lighter craft are being developed using advanced materials and manufacturing technology combined with creative engineering design. Sailing and power yachts and superyachts have increased in sophistication, comfort and performance as more and more people take part in water-borne leisure activities.
Graduates are equipped with the core skills of ship design, construction, operation and maintenance, along with a particular specialism in the creative design and engineering of small leisure and commercial vessels. These include sailing and power yachts and superyachts, fast ferries, hydrofoils, hovercraft, and fishing boats.
