Entry Requirements
The following is an outline of our entry requirements at present. For more detailed information, or for qualifications not covered here please contact the Admissions Tutor .
SQA Highers
BEng : AAAB or AABBB including Maths at B (preferably with Maths 3 Calculus). Physics and/or Technological Studies strongly recommended.
MEng : AAAA or AAABB including Maths at A (preferably with Maths 3 Calculus). Physics and/or Technological Studies strongly recommended.
We welcome a combination of Highers and Advanced Highers. Advanced Higher Maths is recommended.
Advanced Highers will be counted as follows:
Advanced Higher at B equals Higher at A.
Advanced Higher at C equals Higher at B.
Second Year Entry or exemption from some classes and exams with Advanced Higher grades similar to A Levels (see below).
SQA Advanced Highers/GCE A Levels
BEng :
Second Year Entry - ABB including Maths and Physics.
First Year Entry - ABB including Maths or marginally lower including Maths and Physics.
MEng :
Second Year Entry - AAB including Maths and Physics.
First Year Entry - AAB including Maths.
Irish Leaving Certificate
Same requirement as SQA Highers entry from S5.
International Baccalaureate
BEng : 32 points including Maths and Physics at HL5
MEng : 36 points including Maths and Physics at HL6
HNC/HND
Entry to BEng in the first instance.
First Year entry possible with relevant HNC B in Graded Unit; second year entry may be possible with closely matching HND ABB in Graded Units.
Other Qualifications
We accept a range of other qualifications. Please contact Department for advice.
Some examples of the more popular entry qualifications for BEng and MEng courses are given below. This information is intended as a guide, and requirements may alter from year to year.

Additional Information
Offers to UK applicants are usually made after attendance at one of the Department's Insight Afternoons.
Students who do well on the BEng can transfer to the MEng.
