Welcome to the COLOSSUS Project website

Aims

COLOSSUS is based on a consortium of five F/HE institutions mostly across central Scotland. The Project focuses on enabling and encouraging the adoption of blended and e-learning approaches via the identification, repurpose and reuse of learning objects appropriate to the new SQA HN Social Science framework.

Most importantly the Project is analysing and evaluating the work processes involved to develop a workflow model to assist lecturers in the extended use of JORUM learning objects, both as stand-alone learning materials and contextualised as learning objects. The Project will also develop detailed case studies which evaluate the developmental and learning experiences incurred. .

Outputs

• 40 learning objects for units within the SQA HN Social Science framework made available through JORUM Repository
• 4 case studies on the workflow process
• 5 case studies on the re-use of the learning objects within partner institutions
• Evaluation of workflow processes, peer review/quality assurance processes, and deployment process
• Documentation for each of the of workflow processes, peer review/quality assurance processes, and deployment process
• A learning object repurposing and re-use workflow process model with supporting use cases
• Evaluation of the learning objects; their effectiveness and value for money
• Evaluation of the suitability of the tools and JISC services used in this project

Funding

COLOSSUS is an 18 month project funded under the JISC Exchange for Learning (X4L) Programme Phase 2.
