Welcome to the Department of Psychology. Psychology is a fascinating and diverse subject and our undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional development courses reflect that. We are a thriving department and our academic staff have a broad range of research interests.

The BA (Hons) offers a course that covers all the core areas of psychological science as well as providing opportunities to study optional areas of particular interest. You can expect a well-rounded education in psychology and when you start planning your dissertation topic, there is a wide range of research expertise available for supervision. The course is accredited by the British Psychological Society and students who complete the approved curriculum are eligible for the Graduate Basis for Registration This is the first step towards professional accreditation and GBR is required for admission to most postgraduate professional courses in Psychology.

Our research programmes (MRes Research Methods in Psychology and PhD) are recognised by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and financial support is available for entry in 2009/10.

Our MSc in Educational Psychology is one of only two degree programmes offered in Scotland and successful applicants receive Scottish Government funding throughout their training.

Our DEdPsy provides Continuing Professional Development for practising educational psychologists.
