Infant Baptism

Literally 'dip', baptism is recognised by almost all branches of the Christian Church as the religious ritual or ceremony through which a person is admitted to the Church. Baptism involves the use of water which, in most traditions, is blessed by the minister or priest who welcomes the person, usually a baby but in some traditions an adult, into the Church with the following words,

"I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
