The Grants and Contracts team supports University staff in their applications for external funding related to Research & Knowledge Exchange activities. The team also:
- provides a risk management role for the University
- delivers specialist expertise in corporate transactions
- manages the IPR portfolio
- maintains the Research Code of Practice
- manages the University Ethics Committee.
All externally-funded grants and contracts must be authorised by Research & Knowledge Exchange Services (RKES), so it is essential that you contact us as early as possible in the development of your proposed research project. We offer advice on:
- terms and conditions of research grants and contracts
- making grant applications
- costing of applications
- ethics and sponsorship approval
- consultancy/services rendered activity.
RKES manages the R&KE Portal - an online resource with the latest news, events and documentation on research funding (both internal and external funding) and knowledge exchange development. The Portal can only be accessed by University staff, researchers and postgraduate students. There is information on sources of funding, building proposals, approvals, application requirements, costing, pricing, funding processes and good research practice. There is also useful information on knowledge exchange initiatives including commercialising intellectual property, networking opportunities and industry requests for expertise.
