Rachel Doyle - Head of OHSaW
As the Head of OHSaW, my role is to ensure that the University meets the necessary legislative obligations and drives the continuous improvement of health & safety Management at Strathclyde.
I have also developed a University wide Safety, Health & Wellbeing strategy to ensure that Strathclyde is a leader in the field of health & safety.
Prior to joining Strathclyde, I worked for the Health & Safety Executive as an H.M Inspector as well as various companies in senior health & safety management roles.
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and I am also a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH).

Pamela Loughlin - Deputy Head of OHSaW
As well as acting as the line manager for the team of Safety Advisers, my key role is to act as the lead for the OHS audit programme to monitor the University's health & safety management performance, which ensures compliance with our statutory duties.
Where opportunities for improvement are identified, I support the relevant personnel with implementing the required changes.
Initially starting work in Risk Management, I have worked in various health & safety roles in the public sector for over 20 years, advising on a wide range of safety matters. I am also a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH).

Arnold Clements - Health & Safety Adviser
In my role as Health and Safety Adviser, I provide general support to departments as they fulfil their responsibilities for ensuring staff and students remain healthy and safe whilst at the University.
This support extends to help with planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing departmental systems, procedures, working practices, working environments and competence requirements. In particular, I prepare guidance material, deliver various health and safety training courses, provide advice and take part in the OHS audit programme.
Prior to joining the University in 2001, I worked in the energy engineering sector for some 16 years, then retrained as a Health and Safety Adviser. I am a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH).

Gillian Simcox - Chemical Safety Advisor
As the University's Chemical Safety Adviser, my principal role is to support and provide advice to departments on matters relating to the use and management of hazardous substances. I am also the main point of contact within the OHSaW team for the Faculty of Engineering.
I have worked in Health and Safety for over 20 years and have experience in both the public and commerical sectors. I have worked at the University of Strathclyde for 9 years. I am a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH).

Wes Boulstridge - Fire Safety Adviser
As the University's Fire Safety Advisor, my role is to carry out fire risk assessments, deliver fire safety training and to provide advice and guidance in all fire safety related matters.
This is done to ensure that the management of fire safety throughout the University complies with current legislation and sector specific guidance.
I previously worked in the Royal Air Force as a firefighter and the Fire & Rescue Service as a fire safety enforcement officer before joining the University in 2014.

Richard Wright - Radiation Protection Officer
As the University's Radiation Protection Officer, my role is to ensure that work with all forms of radiation within the University is carried out as safely as possible, and in accordance with all relevant legislation to protect both people and the environment.
This involves liaising with the various departments who are using radiations, the University's RPA and government organisations.
I previously worked for the Royal Navy as a member of the various health physics teams, before joining the University in 2015.

Sarah Carroll - Biological Safety Adviser
As the University's Biological Safety Adviser, I am responsible for the management of health & safety matters related to biological risks within the University to ensure legal compliance.
This includes providing advice to the University's biological community on both strategic planning for biological safety and daily operational issues, to promote a positive health & safety culture.
I completed my Ph.D at the University of Glasgow in 2002 after which I worked in the field of cardiac research, before moving to Strathclyde in 2016.

Lorna Millar - Health & Safety Co-ordinator
As Health & Safety Co-ordinator, I lead the OHSaW administration team, oversee the University's safety training programme, carry out accident investigations and I am the lead for the HaSS Faculty with regards to safety issues. I also act as the teams first point of contact for all accident queries as they are reported.
I am also secretary to the Head and Deputy Head of OHSaW and act as the Committee Manager for the University's Statutory Safety Committee.
I previously worked for the NHS and in the Channel Islands before beginning work in OHS&W in 1993.
