SALT is the Scottish Association for Language Teaching
Their aims are:
- To promote effective learning and teaching of all languages in Scotland
- To provide opportunities to exchange information, experience and good practice for everyone concerned with language teaching and learning
- To organise events promoting professional development
- To give teachers a voice in expressing their concerns, both at Scottish and UK level
- To respond on behalf of members to official reports and planning documents issued by SOED, SQA, Learning and Teaching Scotland, et al.
- To liaise with national and international agencies involved in language teaching and learning
Scottish CILT has a close association with SALT, particularly through their joint organisation of the annual SALT conference which is normally held at the University of Stirling on the first Saturday in November, typically attracting up to 400 participants. Read more about the conference.
