Having a bright idea is one thing. Turning it into something which makes money is quite another. We can offer students and alumni a unique suite of support to get from concept to commerce.
Turning your idea into a successful business venture takes persistence, self-belief and knowing when to ask for help. Our experienced advisors will then take you through the necessary stages of the start up process including business planning, market analysis, finance, marketing, sales and the legalities involved in incorporation. We are well placed to connect you with the appropriate expertise (both internal and external to the University) who can assist in your start up.
Our advisors pride themselves on their practical advice and use their own real-life business start up experience to assist others. Our aim is to help you achieve your entrepreneurial aims and ensure that your business stands the best possible chance of success.
Whether you are a business looking for investment, a mentor or contacts, we can offer a number of opportunities for you to pitch your idea or business proposal to an invited audience of business professionals.
With links to the local investment community, we are in a position to offer opportunities to entrepreneurs who are looking for vital seed funding or experienced mentors / advisors.
Pitching gives you a great opportunity to develop your presentation skills and refine your pitch. It also provides you with a platform for raising your profile and receiving constructive feedback.
Matching budding entrepreneurs with successful Strathclyde alumni with relevant business expertise.
Many good business ideas are left floundering due to lack of time, skills or knowledge.
Our Commercialisation Champions Programme draws upon seasoned entrepreneurs and experts and links them to emerging entrepreneurs with commercial ideas. The Commercialisation Champion will work closely with you to make things happen. You may need a commercial assessment, market feasibility, a risk analysis or just some dialogue with potential customers. Our aim is to add value to the original idea and use the champions' energy and experience to help us make informed decisions and articulate the most appropriate direction.
The Strathclyders into Business Fund has been set up to support the next generation of Strathclyde entrepreneurs and inventors. In terms of business start-up the fund will finance activities such as incorporation fees and small marketing projects. The fund is open to Strathclyde students and graduates who have identified and can demonstrate a small funding gap. For more information about the application procedure please email enterprise@strath.ac.uk.
