International students

We’re home to students from over 100 countries making Strathclyde a diverse and very exciting place to study.

Our international students’ country section contains some very helpful country-specific information, including entry requirements and details of clubs and societies at Strathclyde. You can also find out when we’re next visiting your country and contact details for any local agents we have.

Don’t worry if you can’t find your country, simply contact us (international@strath.ac.uk) and one of our helpful staff will be on hand to give you advice.

Entry requirements for EU & EEA students

We recognise a wide range of European qualifications. Information about our University entrance with a variety of European qualifications can be found on our country pages. For some degree programmes, we may expect you to have already studied specific subjects.

English language requirements

In addition to academic qualifications, you must also be able to show that you have a sufficient understanding of English. If English is not your first language you’ll need to provide evidence of your proficiency before you can begin the course. We advise you to take the IELTS exam. Our IELTS requirement is 6.5 (some courses do look for more). Information about this test can be obtained from the British Council Offices.

Our English language teaching courses

We have an excellent track record in delivering pre-study English courses of varying lengths and at different levels throughout the year.
