The Wind Energy CDT would like to thank everyone who attended the conference on the 16th January. Your participation was greatly appreciated and contributed to an excellent day filled with analysis and discussion of cutting edge Wind Energy Research conducted here at Strathclyde University.
FutureWind presented an opportunity for Industry to engage with the work of senior research students within the Wind Energy CDT. Presentations and posters were given on a wide range of topics including but not limited to; Wind Modelling, Drive-train loading and Electrical generation. It was clear that the research being undertaken here at the CDT is very relevant to the problems faced by industry with FutureWind providing an excellent platform to promote discussion and new ideas.
A special thanks must be given to Dave Quarton of GL Garrad Hassan who provided an excellent Key Note Address along with an engaging discussion on the difficulties currently being faced by the Wind Industry. As well as Ignacio Marti, the CTO from NAREC, who contributed to a notable debate on the future research required for the Wind Industry to grow. Our grateful thanks also go to our two sponsors Sgurr Energy and RES without whom this event would not have been possible.
This event successfully showcased the work of all the Wind Energy CDT students. The presentations and posters can be downloaded by clicking on the desired link below along with a copy of the Key Note Address:
